When I was young and impressed by people who knew how to construct sentences that elicit powerful emotions, I tried to make a deal with God — give Borges my eyesight and give me his writing talent.
I enjoyed reading this, thank you Alex! The story of Avedon's portrait of Borges invites to reflection. And i definitely need to read more Borges (only read Ficciones so far).
OMG Alex, I really loved this one. I'm a big Borges fan and, funnily enough, I was going over Diane Arbus' "Revelations" during the weekend and I found this portrait of him, now your post gave me much more context and also added another puzzling portrait. Great piece!
Thank you, George. I was not familiar with Scianna's portraits. But I just found one online.
Fantastic!

Thank you, Pierre! The two stories I put the links to in the post should hold you over for now. 😀. But he’s definitely worth exploring further.
got them! Thanks!
I haven't read anything by Jorge Lois Borges but I will do now!
He’s worth your time, Andrew.
You can start with the two short stories I linked to in my post.
