It’s snowing in New York, which means two things: the city looks absolutely magical, and my aikido dojo just sent an email canceling class due to “hazardous conditions.”
p.s. i don't understand how can one not play with children in the snow. i would if i was in the middle of ny or anywhere else with snow for that matter.
Don’t forget the sadistic game of touching an icy metal pole with your tongue and then forever trying to get unstuck. Happened to me when I first kissed my future ex wife
I love this. On one hand it’s a nice respite from our typically crazy lives, to have everything come to a stop. And doing that while the world is more beautiful to behold is just perfect. On the other hand, my goodness, don’t sit back to wait and live your lives. Strap on some skis instead! Both are valid.
The whole country has become risk-adverse, when it comes to snow. I miss the old days, when you could see the newbies, those who were not from a snowy land, slid off, into the ditches. Winter Darwinism.
I learned while living in Chicago snow is a political matter - how well you manage the city during a snowstorm as a major can influence your re-election.
Your writing is always so enjoyable. It always makes me smile! Thank you, Alex! I hope you will have a great new year!
happy new year!

Totally agree with you, perfectlight!
Haha, great story. I feel we have become to protective regarding weather (and almost anything else). Just dress up for it and go out.
One hundred percent, Marcel. The more we protect ourselves, the more dangerous life becomes.
For what it's worth - my aikido dojo in Woodstock was also closed yesterday! The roads were quite slick though. Happy 2026!
Good to hear, Alon. I need to come and visit you guys in 2026 :)

Your future ex wife was, in reality, a frozen metal pole!?!?! 🤣
Love is blind, Donn.
Very clever, YZ.

Thank you, Donn! Not enough snow for skiing, but I’m rolling in it instead. Reclaiming the inner child.👦

Ha! Winter Darwinism. Love it!
Live in Wisconsin now, and we lean more Belarus than nyc.
Also, I love history and never knew it was called Belarussia.
