I think maybe Mary Oliver is one of the more visual poets of the natural world. Like your friend, I often think photographers here (myself included) asphyxiate our photographs with too many words. But when the words are just right in length and content, so sweet... I'd say, do what your muse tells you. Then listen to me.
These are beautiful images. I love the first one in particular. Also, Mary Oliver poem's are pure bliss to me. Also, I like your words. People who don't want to read them, don't have to, they can just look at the images only.
As a photographers who enjoys writing, and reading and looking, I appreciate words just as much as images.
